Jaya sri maha Bodhi Tree (The secret Bo tree)

When the Bodisatwa (sidharta) was getting enlightenment the particular Bo tree he had leaned and thence become holy was sent to lanka with permission of the king Asoka of india and it was to sri lanka by his own daughter sangemitha and was afforded to king Devanampiyatissa and planted in a place where Buddha had visited .it was placed up above the normal height and it is considered one of the holiest relic other than the body parts of Buddha.

To make this tree holy certain adjective are used homely “wahamsa” or “Rajanan” is added to this holy tree .it is customary to home a great person or article by the names in Sinhala these are very common “Boddhi Rajayanan wahmsa” chaitya Rajayanan wahamsa” are some examples.

The Buddhist venerated the Boo-Tree; there is a legend that it has a miraculous power where diseases and what we wish would be fulfilled.

Mahaviharaya

The first king to embrace Buddhism was Devanampiyatissa erected two gardens close to Anuradhapura called” Nandana” “Mahamega” and established the first monasteries in the garden At first it was called Tissaramaya but later it was called Mahaweharaya.it was offered to the son of Dammasoka and the emper of india ,Mehedu and the monks who came with him it was venerated up to 89BC to the monks and it had had monastery of sri lanka, Buddishim was given to south India’s and later to sri lanka for the first time Thripitkaya of teravadi and Atthka katha was written by the monk of mahavihara, the king of Sinhala ruled the island by the advices given by mahavihara monks. So mahavehara became a religious political, cultural economics and development guiding place. further mahavihara was dominated to spread buddhisam to foreign countries.

At present mahaveharaya is located in the inner town confining northern Abayagerya temple western thpowanaya from the south malwatu oya can be de-marketed for mahaveharaya in this percent .Mahaveharaya and it is branches mirisawatya and Tuparamaya is located eight important places of the mahaveharaya were introduced to king Devanampiyatissa by Mehdu thero.

Eight holy places are built and located on lion’s body structure as it is refering sadarmarathnawalya 14 century. Eight holy places Boo tree, Lowamahapaya, Ruwanwelisaya, Abasyageriya, Tuparamaya, Jethwanaramaya, built after 12 AD all these Eight places were governed by mahaweharaya. These Eight holly places are much venerated to the Buddhist and there monks these places should be analyzed properly.
