Galle

The capital of southern province, Gall is 116km from Colombo, The charming Old Dutch fort beautifies this coastal city of Galle, The walled city has stood since the early 16th century ,through the colonial periods of the Portuguese ,Dutch and British and in our present times is proclaimed as an Archaeological Reserve and identified as a world Heritage site.

A monument of particular interest in the Dutch church dedicated in 1754 .The Dutch commander s residence or government house ,Queens house in the British era ,can be seen down the street opposite the Dutch church which leads to the old gate.

In contrast to the Portuguese and Dutch there are many British relics found in the town,The lion and the unicorn of the British coat of arms is found over the outside arch and on the inside is a monogram of the Dutch East India Company, a shield with the initials V.O.C chiseled upon it and two lions supporting the crest.

Unawatuna

Unawatuna is located 6 k/m from Galle city it is wide curving golden beach, sun worshipers visit Unawatuna to enjoy on the wide sandy beaches, Unawatunna beach has been listed amongst 12 best beaches in the world Unawatuna beach is a major place for leisure tourist seeking the sun and fun of this romantic bay, this Beach is also more popular beach scuba diving and sea food in sri Lankan style

The jungle beach in Rumassala is connected to the great legend of Ramayana in to the mythological epic the monkey good (Hanuman) was sent back to the Himalaya to bring medical herbs in order to heal Lakshman who was wounded trying to save and take away by force princess sita from the power full king Rawana, Hanuman could not be identify these herbal medicine plants ,so he took entire mountain and carried it to the battle field to save the lakshman while it was carrying ,fell down piece of it in the location of the persent bay Unawatuna.Read More
