Wasgamuwa national park

Wasgamuwa national park is situated 225 k/m from Colombo in the province of central and border of district, mathale and polonnaruwa it is announced as wild life sanctuary in 1984 and this park is more popular large herd of Elephants, as the temperature is 28 centigrade it is in the dry zone a mountain called sudu kanda is located in wasgamuwea national park.

There are many irrigational tanks and canals which was built by king parkramabahu they believe that the battle between king Dutugamunu and Elara had happened here

The wasgamuwa national p[ark has the most bio diversity among the protected parks, the oldest tree a tamarind tree is here ,where a the large jungle is to be seen the park consist many herd of elephants plus many varieties of mammals and both local and foreign birds and reptiles are existing in this park.

The clash between human and Elephants are common diseases such as cattle causes make as the local cattle is freely released
