HAKGALA BOTANICAL GARDEN

Hakgala Botanical Garden is situated on the Nuwaraeliya ,Baddula main road it is the second largest  garden in srilanka there is a cool temperature climate as of attitude is 1745 above the sea leval
Botanical garden Hakgala is established in 1861 for the purpose of experimentation and promotion of cinchona ,a commercial  crop thriving of at the time one after the Tea replaced the cinchona in 1861 it convert to garden since then many sub tropical plants were planted in the gardens
At the period of srilankan Demon king Rawana after abducting king rama’swife ,kept her ,hidden in this area it was offered to sita as a pleasure garden
